As part of its commitment to community welfare and sustainable development, IndianOil Petronas Private Limited (IPPL) has contributed CSR funds towards the installation of two bio-toilets for public use in Kolkata during FY 2025–26.
The bio-toilets have been installed at traffic guard posts located at Anandapur–Ruby and E.M. Bypass near the Metro Cash & Carry crossroads, through Artemis Fountain Foundation.
🌱 Promoting Hygiene Through Sustainable Solutions
The initiative addresses an important need for access to clean, safe, and hygienic sanitation facilities, particularly in busy urban areas. The bio-toilets are designed as self-contained units that use natural processes to treat waste and convert it into compost, making them an environmentally friendly and sustainable sanitation solution.
IPPL appreciates the initiative undertaken in collaboration with the Kolkata Police, recognizing the importance of providing essential sanitation facilities in a city with a long-established and densely populated urban environment.
👮 Supporting Traffic Personnel and the Public
The facilities are primarily intended for use by police personnel manning the traffic booths. At the same time, they provide an important emergency sanitation facility for members of the public who may require access to a clean and convenient toilet, particularly women and other individuals in need of such facilities.
By supporting the installation of these bio-toilets, IPPL aims to contribute towards:
